Reusing Pokemon Packaging
If you love collecting Pokémon toys or cards, chances are you’ve either thrown a lot of packaging away or you still have it somewhere in your house, not having the heart to get rid of something with Pokémon printed on it! Pokémon packaging often has nice decorations and images of different characters on it. Here are some ways you can reuse and recycle packaging from your Pokémon merchandise. If you have any ideas of your own, please feel free to submit them on the contact page!
Keep the item in its packaging
If you’re the kind of person who spends a lot of time organising their Pokémon collection into nice displays and hardly ever play with them, you may consider not taking the items out of their packets at all. Pokémon merchandise becomes a lot more valuable over time if kept in mint condition in its box. There are lots of ways you can display sealed Pokémon items so that you can look at them but still keep them in perfect condition.
Keep a Pokémon scrapbook
Get a blank scrapbook and decorate it with cut-outs of Pokémon from empty card packs and cardboard backing. You could combine it with your own drawings or craft materials to create scenes of Pokémon in their natural habitats, or you could dedicate each page to a particular Pokémon character.
Storage boxes
Some Pokémon items come in bigger boxes that might be suitable for keeping Pokémon figures or other toys in. Empty Pokémon deck boxes are also great for storing smaller card collections.
Covering school books
If your school notebooks or text books are looking a little plain, you could always use some Pokémon cut-outs to decorate them!
Decorating card binders and tins
There are lots of specially designed Pokémon card binders and tins, but if you don’t have one then you can make your own card holder with a Pokémon touch. Simply glue or tape some Pokémon cut-outs onto a container, tin or folder.
Craft activities
Be creative with your Pokémon packaging. Make charms, jewellery, dioramas, comics, decorations and anything else you can think of with Pokémon character cut-outs from cardboard backing or card packets.
Recycling
If you have any leftover packaging that you can’t find a use for, don’t just throw it away. In most places that provide a community recycling service, almost all Pokémon packaging can be recycled. Anything that’s made of cardboard or paper is easily recyclable, and even empty booster packs can be put in your recycling box at home. If you’re unsure, check the packaging for a recycling symbol or ask your local recycling service to see what you can and can’t recycle.
